His longing for Laura is strong and afterwards he seems to take a more adult role. It took time to read the book because I lost interest pretty soon. Unfortunately, not a book that felt good to spend time on but it is possible it may be higher score on a second reading. On the other hand I did not like the movie either. But sometimes it's just the wrong time to read a book or see a movie. What you do not like might proceed much another time
